Ah, the summer school.
Not time to sit back and unwind, sadly.
I worked all day today. Like a work day, really. I read student papers (and got increasingly frustrated with each one) and then planned for the week. You wouldn't believe how long it took me. Being a good teacher really takes time; I don't think many people realize that. (And I know you shouldn't use that in such a way, and I spent a lot of time telling students not to today. But you know what I mean.) Just as an aside, TMH really likes to make fun of my English during summer school. By the end of the day I am likely to say some pretty ridiculous things.
Things are mostly good. TMH and I are doing great. Every now and then I just want to move back from whence I came (usually when the city life is getting the better of me, like on the bus, or when I just want to yell at people to get out of my way), and sometimes I think I still live there, but I think that's mostly normal. It has nothing to do with TMH, just my transition to this new life where I have to make a life for myself. Get a life, PMP! It takes time, though, you know, and I have a few things on my plate.
I have become concerned with the pace of life these days, especially since we are about to get married. I am out of touch with my closest friends right now, largely because the pace of their lives is crazy (I hope that's the reason, anyway). It seems a bit sad, really. Huge events and weekends go by in a blip, and then it's on to the next thing and you wonder whether anyone even stopped to consider what amazing thing just happened before they have to run back to their obligations.
I think everyone needs to be able to take a minute to stop and smell the wildflowers. Hopefully we'll all have a chance to at my wedding, at least.
